The Quarters
The first quarter
As the sun and moon travel the sky together the moon is hidden by the brilliance of the sun. The moon is invisible to us at this time of the month and is called the New Moon. The 1st quarter of the moon is the time of new beginnings. If you are wanting to start a new project now is the time to start.
The second quarter
This is called the Waxing Moon. It is a crescent moon that grows each night. It will rise each day around noon and set around midnight. This is the time of growth and development of life. Projects that are coming close to completion are good tho work on at this time.
The third quarter
The Full Moon. At this point the sun and Moon are directly opposite from each other in the sky. The moon will rise each evening at sunset, at a little later time each night. This point in the cycle is the time for completion. Projects we started with the New Moon should be finishing.
The fourth quarter
The Waning moon has begun to rise at midnight and set at noon. She is a crescent again but this time the moon is getting smaller each night. This is the time to clear out the last project and prepare for the next one, a time of contemplation and reflection.
Moon Signs
Aries
The moon is fiery, bold and energetic. For these two days everyone will be argumentative, feisty, and defensive. If you are looking to initiate a change or new beginnings, now is the time. This a very stressful and impulsive time. Be careful not to focus too much on yourself and forget about the others in your life that you could be hurting by doing so.
Taurus
The moon is earthy, showing colors of greens and browns. This is when the moon is most solid and secure. During this time there is no stress nor need to hurry, everything is feeling wonderful. We do not want to change anything and have a tendency to try and resist change. This is a good time to sit back and appreciate beauty in all its forms, especially the earth and nature.
Gemini
The Moon is now in a coat of many colors and prefers variety and activity. We find ourselves in the mood for conversation, puzzles, riddles, and word games. We want two of everything and become very restless. Now is a good time for letter writing, phone calls, or short trips. Careful not not to become too scattered during this Moon.
Cancer
The Moon at this time is most nurturing and emotional. Her concerns will be her family, home, children, and mothers. We will be more emotional, sympathetic, and understanding. Do not allow yourself to become over-sensitive, needy, or dependant. But tend to your domestic concerns.
Leo
Leo is ruled by the sun. The sun is the creative force and the center of the universe, so we all feel the need to be recognized, appreciated, and applauded. This is the theatrical sign, known for being a time for Drama. Be wary of vanity and over reacting during this period. But take time to be romantic, go see a theatrical production, or give someone you care about a royal treatment.
Virgo
This is the moon designed for work, she is detail-oriented and discriminating. Virgo is the most helpful of all the signs that puts us in the mood to clean, work, or offer assistance. Now is a good time to pay attention to schedules, diet, and tasks expected of us.
Libra
Dressed in Venusian pastels, this is when the Moon is oriented on others and in the mood for attraction. Being with someone, relationships, and partnerships are important to her now. Since Libra's job is to restore balance now is the time we are all capable of restoring balance to the things that need balancing. Now is a time that we all enjoy being around people and surrounding ourselves with beauty. So put some effort in to decorating or shopping for your home or visit a place of elegant beauty.
Scorpio
The moon is all dressed in formal black and is at her most intense. Everything we do will take center stage in our lives to the point of possible obsession. Be careful, tendency to become secretive, suspicious, or brood over unintended offenses is at a peak. Now is a great time to play detective, do research, investigate a mystery, or allow ourselves to become intimate with someone.
Sagittarius
The moon is now at her most optimistic, non-judgmental, and positive. She is dressed for adventure and off to collect knowledge, experiences, and wisdom. We are more likely to shug things off and let them go during this time. Spend time outdoors, enjoy life, laugh a lot, seek education, and travel but watch for a tendency toward excess, waste, and overdoing.
Capricorn
The Moon is now wearing her uniform and is at her most practical and businesslike. This brings out the most dutiful, cautious, and pessimistic side of us all. We become very concerned with following rules touching all based, and following orders. Now is a time to tend to family business, act responsible, take charge, set rules, and organize. Be careful of others' emotions and not to be too businesslike at their expense.
Aquarius
The Moon is ready to break free, say no to all the rules, be rebellious, and show her uniqueness. Dressed in eccentric electric blue. Personal freedom and individuality are extremely important right now. Prone to last minute changes and spontaneous decisions. There are tendencies to become fanatic, deliberately rebellious, or break tradition.
Pisces
Alter states of reality prevail and the Moon tries to convince us that everything is all right. We crave anything that will place us in a trance like state (sleep, meditation, prayer, drugs, or alcohol.) We will do almost anything to allow us to escape from the harshness of reality and we are more susceptible to emotional assaults. Now we are at our most spiritual, compassionate, and sensitive. Take time to attend a spiritual group or religious gathering.
